Wicket Wystri WarrickWicket Wystri Warrick was originally rescued while his dog momma was still pregnant with him and his siblings from an overwhelmed breeder. All of the pups found good homes, but Wicket would have a special calling. He became a Service Dog! His natural ability to cuddle, look into someone’s eyes, and give hugs when they were needed came in handy helping his person in their psychiatric care.
Unfortunately one day while he was working in a grocery store, a cart ran over him. He never recovered. He jumped at every noise and would shake uncontrollably whenever there were shopping carts around. Wicket was scarred from his experience and was suffering from PTSD. He could not be a Service Dog any longer. For Wicket this was equally devastating. He was used to spending every minute of every day with his person. Without someone around all the time he also developed Anxiety Disorder. Wicket was safe here at ALPRAS, and there was always someone around for him. This boy was a lovable cuddle bug and he felt safe, especially when hiding or sleeping under the covers. He loved the other dogs and cats in the Sanctuary and he used the big dogs as couches! Though he didn't finish his life as a Service Dog, he provided comfort and friendship to the other dogs and cats in the Sanctuary until he passed. Wicket passed away over Thanksgiving of 2019. |
