'Poppies'
January 1928 - December 2016

Poppies was an incredibly smart, funny, energetic, and generous man who never put great stock into worldly things. A hard worker and loyal individual who was always willing to lend a hand and take on jobs nobody wanted to do. He tried to retire a couple of times but he truly wasn't ready to do so until his late seventies. Afterwards he helped out with the Rescue in various ways. Sometimes it was Scooping Litter, Cleaning Crates, or Sorting through Donations, but his favorite part was interacting with the Foster Animals in his home. He provided invaluable help by just being there for them. Non judgmentally interacting with them helped their rehabilitation along. As he got older he became a favorite for the cats and he obliged them with a lap and plenty of attention. Without a doubt, many fosters and sanctuary animals missed him terribly. While his passing came rapidly from an aggressive malignant cancer, most ALPRAS animals did get a chance to say goodbye giving them the closure not many animals have a chance to experience. We will always remember the humor of his 'zingers' and his big heart. He is truly beloved and missed by his family, his friends, the animals, and all of ALPRAS.
