Kazekage Sabaku no GaaraKaze (Kah-zey) was one of 7 puppies that were brought into the rescue. He was the first of his siblings to pass away. He was only 1.5 years old. His life and death isn't in vain as we use it to teach people the dangers of toxic foods. Turkey Skin is extremely dangerous for dogs and can cause Acute Pancreatitis. This was the case with Kaze when he got a hold of a Turkey leg and got very little of it except the skin before he was caught wit it. He developed the pancreatitis not long after and it took mound of research to find out what caused this. It was heartbreaking that something so seemingly innocuous would take his young life so soon.

Who he Was : |
Kaze was a dog who took early leadership over the pack of puppies and as he grew, the whole pack of dogs at the main foster house. He had a solid way about him. He took the mantle of leadership with ease. He was kind and other dogs, even those older than him, followed him. There was a charisma about him that made him special. He was well behaved and took to his training well. Kaze was a great mix of playful and steady with an even temperament. We knew he was destined to be a great dog and service dog. Though his life ended far too soon, he lives on in the hearts of his people and in the faces of his siblings.

His History : |
Kazekage Sabaku no Gaara was on of 7 puppies that came into the rescue that we dubbed the Naruto Puppy Batch. Each of them received a name from the Anime 'Naruto'. Kaze was the second largest puppy just barely under Asuma Saratobi in weight and bulk. The puppies were found in a tied up trash bag by a Garbage Man who stopped short of throwing the bag in the truck when he heard their tiny cries. He immediately brought them to Animal Control to see if their lives could be saved. They were in luck as one of our important ALPRAS members worked there. We took them in to foster care right away. They were so young that their umbilical cords were still somewhat soft. We couldn't be certain, but we estimated them to be between 1-3 days old. We made their birthday the day they came to us.
7 puppies is a lot of work, but Kaze was one of the easy ones. He ate well and gained weight quickly. He was an outgoing type but seemed to have a responsible way about him. It was due to this that we knew he could make it as a Service Dog in the future. He was easily trained and was just an all around a pawsome pup. Kaze, along with Asuma began training as service dogs at 4 weeks old! Together they were close as brothers could be. Although he passed away before he could become a full fledged Service Dog, he left behind great memories and people who loved him wholeheartedly. |
