Julien Nikolai SvenNo one is ever really prepared to lose a loved one and that often goes even more so for those who have four paws.
We have lost an iconic part of our lives here at ALPRAS. Julien Nikolai Sven Lamont passed away on February 20th at 2:30 AM. He was humanely euthanized and with pre care assistance and medication, he was able to pass peacefully and without pain in the arms of his guardian. |
Who he Was |
Julien was an Agatha's Lucky Paws resident Sanctuary Dog who after his first year was determined as unable to be rehomed. He was a very enthusiastic active dog who had a lot of mental issues but was also super sweet, loving, and incredibly smart. He was often referred to as 'Mama Julien' as he was very attentive to several animals, especially three kittens who all bore some semblance of his name. Juliette, Jillian, and Julius. They were so influenced by him that they were nicknamed The Rottweiler Kittens! Julian was a much loved pup and such an intrinsic part of the rescue. Any donations made with his name will go directly to the Sanctuary portion of ALPRAS to help aid in the care of his friends.

His History |
Julien Nikolai was a loved Rottweiler in the Sanctuary and our mascot. He originally came with the name 'Harm'. While Harm is a Teutonic name with the meaning 'Warrior', he was the furthest thing from one! Julien was only 9 months old when he arrived and he did indeed have some battles to face. When he was pulled from Animal Control, he has what they call and Entropic Eye, this means an 'inward rolling of the eyelid'. It made him very scared of what was behind him. Rehabilitation was a hard road for this fearful pup and he had many setbacks due to his both his eyes causing problems. Once he healed from one eye and began Rehab, the other one did the same! That mixed with some other problems made it so he was set back for two years. During this time we began to understand more.
Julien was not very well socialized as a pup and he has severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Anxiety Disorders, along with his Fear Issues. Despite all of this he was a sweet dog who tried hard to overcome his hardships. We changed his name to Julien Nikolai which means 'Youth Victorious'. More fitting for him and less frightening to people. He was often called a ‘Momma Dog’ because he LOVED Kittens and always wants to help take care of them. Julien loved to play with Toys. He adored Kong toys but he liked all sorts of toys from Chew Bones to Woobies and everything in-between! Though he couldn't be rehomed, he had lots love and companionship with the humans and other animals in his life. |
