Overall Physical Health – Good (4)
Poirot is in good health for his age and size. He occasionally has less hair on his rear end from overgrooming. His body scale is a normal at 5.
(1=severely emaciated, 5 – 6 normal, 10 = morbidly obese)
Overall Mental Health – Good (4)
Poirot is a cat who has some insecurities and anxieties. This makes him overgroom at times. He qualifies as a Purple Cat because he can be shy until he gets to know someone and needs a lower stress enviroment
Behavioral Issues – Minimal (1)
When he is scared, overwhelmed, or insecure, he does try to hide in his litter box. If things get hectic he will shut down. We believe that like most cats of his type, once he settles into a calm low stress environment this will dissipate.
Meowing – Minimal (1)
Poirot will ‘talk’ to you when you are paying attention to him along with much purring and head bumps. He does not yowl at odd hours or tend to be disruptive.
People – Good (4)
Poitor love attention from people, he just needs to get to know them. He is a little bit of a wallflower but once he knows you are safe, he will be happy to love on someone. He likes to be a lap/couch/bed cat and just hang out. He is a ‘Bush’ cat, though we have worked with him to try and raise his confidence by giving him places to perch.
Dogs – Good (4)
Poirot can be in a home with dogs but needs a low key dog that won’t chase him or get into his face. He is fine with the largest and smallest of dogs. Households with dogs who have a high prey drive will not be a good fit for him. He does not bite, scratch, or defend himself in anyway. Due to this, he needs a home with a Cat Savvy Dog, Low Key/Energy Dog, or one that just doesn’t care about cats either way.
Cats – Average (3)
Poirot has always lived with cats, but he is such an Omega that living in a home with many cats is too much and will cause him to over groom. He is not always able to ‘create space’ like most cats and due to this he can be a target for dominate and aggressive cats.
Children – Average (3)
Calm children are fine for him.
Pocket Pets – Unknown
It would need to be discovered. ALPRAS does not currently have any pocket pets. We would caution to have him interact with small animals such as rodents in the beginning. Although untried, it would be best that these animals be played with behind doors or in their enclosures when they share the same space at first.
