Weight (5) - (1=severely emaciated, 5 – 6 normal, 10 = morbidly obese)
Puppy is in excellent health with no known abnormalities with an appropriate weight for their age.
Overall Mental Health – Excellent (5) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Puppy has excellent mental health for its age. These puppies are very smart, playful, and a sponge for learning.
Arcturus is a rambunctious boy with lots of energy to spare. He is fairly readily attentive to what you would like him to do. He presents as a people pleaser at this time. He only has a mild stubborn streak when he doesn't want to do something but is easily pulled along. This generally happens when he would rather be babied than, say, go outside to go potty at night. He will go begrudgingly but be happier about it with a few pets or kisses. (Silly pup) He loves to play and will engage with toys, other animals and people. Keep him stimulated and give his brain something to do and he won't get into any trouble.
People – Excellent ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Puppy has been socialized with adults and do not show fear or reserved behavior.
He very much likes people and more than happy to be the life of the party. Like most puppies, he can be a little mouthy, but has already begun to eliminate that behavior, mostly on his own, but also in response to minimal correction.
Children – Good ( 4 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Puppies are expected to be fine with children. Their score is 4 only because they have not been exposed to kids as of yet. Given how these puppies act with other people and animals it is expected that they will be good with small humans as well. The biggest thing new pet parents of human puppies need to remember is that all puppies need training just like human puppies. That includes appropriate behavior with children.
Given that Arcturus is a lightweight compared to the rest of his little, one can expect that he will more likely stay the size and thickness of a Field Golden Retriever. He may not be the best for very small children (5 and under) simply due to his rambunctious nature and current mouthy behavior. Kids 6 and up should be able to handle getting run into accidentally without issue and correct his behavior as well since children of that age and up are more mindful of what to do. With how social and active he is he will be able to keep up with active kids and teenagers easily.
Dogs – Excellent ( 4 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Puppies have lived with dogs since their birth of many ages and sizes. From an old small/medium sized dog of 16 years, a middle aged Deer Chihuahua, an older Dutch Shepherd, a leggy Saluki mix, and their parents, they have good exposure to various breeds, sizes, and ages. Due to this they have learned to respect their elders, give space when another dog requires it, listen to warnings from other dogs, play with those willing to play, and have been learning other canine etiquette from them and each other. As they are still young they are still learning but they have had an excellent start to their lives with other dogs.
Arcturus is a very social dog with other dogs. The reason for the rating of 4 is explained here: It should be noted that when we say he's top dog, he's top dog. He has a dominate personality and will more than likely try to be the head of the pack. More submissive dogs will probably not have much of an issue letting him lead as he gets older. Adult dogs in the home may take issue with his ambition. So expect if that is the case that there be a lot of Adult dog to puppy correction as Arcturus gets older with the most issues probably arising between 6-18 months. This is by no means meant to discourage potential adopters with adult dogs, but it is important to know what to possibly expect from any animal coming into your home. While Arcturus has learned how to pay attention to older dog's warnings and correction, not all old dogs can be assertive. Geriatric and Senior dogs with major health issues or a weaker personality are probably not a good fit with him. Not that he will intentionally hurt them, but having a young dog trampling your older pet is not ideal and they could get injured.
Cats – Good ( 4 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Puppies have live with cats and have been learning etiquette with them. They have had exposure to a grumpy older cat, an elder cat (who has given them a lot of space), and a young cat who is dog savvy. So far they dog not chase cats and have learned to listen to growl warnings. Those that didn't got a paw bop and did not have aggressive reactions and just learned from their mistake. Given their breeds it is advised for them most of them to go to a home with dog savvy cats. Each individual puppy will be different in their level of cat appropriateness. This page will be updated with this particular puppy's cat compatibility as it is further known with their development. (aka whether all cats, dog savvy cats, or least likely to happen...no cats are best for them)
Arcturus is compatible with cats, he just needs to go to a home with dog savvy cats. This means that the cat is assertive enough to not only create space for itself, but also know when to give a paw bop correction or if he's playing too rough, simply get out of the way onto a cat tree or another room until Arcturus calms down. Just like with dogs, geriatric and senior cats might not be a good fit as they may not be able to get out of his way quickly enough if he's romping around. Bush cat types may not be ok with him initially as they tend to be more fearful and act like prey. This doesn't mean Arcturus will try to harm them, but it does mean that he will probably chase them. A human creating boundaries for him and giving space for a bush cat type can make this pairing work, its simply a matter of firm training while he's still a puppy. If you already know how to do this, awesome! If you don't, we'll be happy to give any help and pointers on what to do.
Pocket Pets – Unknown ( ? ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
If a family has pocket pet it would be best to play with them behind closed doors and in their enclosures when they are not as they have not been exposed to them just yet. Pocket Pet introductions should be done carefully with caution and safety in mind for both animals.
Though Arcturus hasn't been exposed to Pocket Pets yet, it is probably best that they stay separated when outside their enclosure. His active behavior would not be safe for them and they could unintentionally be hurt. With time, maturity, and respect for them in their enclosures, he can be taught to be around them if so desired. This will require training and the human to be firm in creating space for the animal. If an adopter isn't sure that they can do that sort of training or is worried that he may hurt them anyways, it would be best for Pocket Pets to remain in their enclosures around him and played with behind closed doors.
Behavioral Issues – None ( 1 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = None and 5 = Many
Puppies have been taught good behaviors. All puppies can get into trouble/mischief and it is extremely important that the new puppy parent do their part to continue their education with positive reinforcement to promote good behavior through appropriate discipline and training. Things to watch for in the future are general behaviors exhibited by both breeds like playing in the water bowl and ball obsession (Golden) or digging and guarding (Rottie) can be averted if they even arise.
Energy – Moderate ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Low and 5 = High
Puppies have puppy energy. Although it varies from puppy to puppy, they have a healthy amount for their age and breeds. Their particular energy level will be updated as it is further recognized with their development.
Arcturus will be a very active dog and his expected energy level as he grow up will be High to Very High. Field Golden Retrievers have a higher energy level than standard Goldens. An active lifestyle owner is best for him. Kids or teenagers that can help wear him out wouldn't hurt either! He is not the kind of pup who will just relax all day or handle being cooped up. He's happy to stop and cuddle (and be babied, he loves being babied lol) , but that's going to be after he's had a chance to get all that energy out.
Barking – Minimal ( 2 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Minimal and 5 = Very Often
Puppies do not over bark at this time. They alert bark to go potty and play bark when interacting with their siblings. Their level of barking will be updated as they develop if needed.
Arcturus, like his siblings, mostly barks to go outside, is hungry, playing, or when he needs something. However, he also has opinions. He has opinions and he wants to tell you about them. You can hold a conversation with him and he will probably respond. With all this in mind, make sure to keep training him to keep barking in check and limited to appropriate times. He's the kind of dog you teach to bark when you want him to, whisper when you want him to, and stop when you want him to. His momma is vocal when she plays and she holds conversations, We expect he'll do the same.
Swimming – Unknown ( ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
As we no longer have access to a pool at this time, we aren't sure how well they can swim. It is best that puppies use a life jacket just to be safe. We can help with tips and/or demonstration on how to teach puppies to swim for pool owners. It is imperative that a pool owner teach their dogs how to swim and be able to find the stairs to get out (especially if they do not have a pool fence) ensuring that their adopted dog does not drown.
* Chances are most of them will be decent swimmers but some of the heavier/larger puppies may require more caution.
Arcturus is the lightest puppy in the litter and most likely to be able to swim well once he is taught how. Unlike some of his heavier siblings, he probably has a much less chance of sinking. Teach him how to be a water dog and you may wind up with an excellent water dog!
Toys – Excellent ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Puppies have displayed excellent behavior with toys. At this time they are not destructive with their toys. They chew on their bones and teething toys, tug and chew on ropes, play tug of war with each other, share (and steal!) toys with each other without squabbling, have not injured thinner rubber type toys or balls, not torn apart plushies/woobies,or otherwise intentionally harmed their playthings.
Arcturus is great with toys of all kinds and hasn't been destructive with them at all as of yet. Interactive toys would be fantastic offering a chance to bond and do some training at the same time. He isn't possessive over toys so he will share them with other dogs.

Other Notes:
Keep in mind that these puppies are half Golden Retriever. This means that most of them will enjoy water including needing to teach them to not put their paws and toys in the water bowl. This is a common thing for Labradors, Goldens, and water other type breeds. Although we have worked with them all to not do this behavior it is always up to the new pet parent to continue training their new baby up through adulthood and beyond. As for the Rottweiler half, their father is an American Rottweiler. This means that unlike their German counterparts, American Rotties are often more needy and less aloof. While this makes them more social and great family dogs, it also can have them be more anxious and saddened when they are alone. Many strong behaviors of both breeds may be muted (such as guarding or ball obsession) as it seems to be common of these particular mixed breeds to inherit the best of both breeds. It is always important to do your research on the breed of dog you are interested whenever it is known to make sure that your new family member is right for you! The great news is that both of their parents are excellent in representation of their breed and have wonderful personalities. They have also both been loving and interactive parents helping us guide these babies into the fantastic pups they are so far. The rest will be up to you! :)

'I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal, and I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and then spoke softly.
"I have done something," he replied,
"I created you."
