AnkoAnko (Ahn-koh) was one of 7 puppies that were brought into the rescue. She was the second of her siblings to pass away. She was roughly 4-5 years old. Out of all the pups, she was the one who was born with some defects that weren't discovered until after she was 2. Her hips were very narrow and her bladder was undersized. She developed severe hip dysplasia early on and it caused a variety of issues. Eventually her intensifying physical maladies as well as a bad shift in mental and personality capacity finally caused the tough decision to end her suffering.

Who She Was : |
Anko was very much like her namesake. Playful but tough, she never backed down from a challenge. She was mischievous and sometimes was the troublemaker. She didn't take guff from anybody but she was also fair minded in her youth to not take things too far. Anko was the Naruto Puppy that looked the most like the part of their bloodline that was Bernese Mountain Dog but her fearlessness came straight out of the Rottweiler part. Unlike some of her siblings, the Finish Spitz never really manifested much in her looks or personality other than the bit of curl of her tail, or the Bloodhound....unless you count having one for trouble! All in all, Anko was a fun dog with a fun personality that often made her the clown of the pack. Her laughter that caused others to laugh with her will always be a big part in memory.

Her History : |
Anko was one of 7 puppies that came into the rescue that we dubbed the Naruto Puppy Batch. Each of them received a name from the Anime 'Naruto'. Anko was the fourth largest puppy in the litter. The puppies were found in a tied up trash bag by a Garbage Man who stopped short of throwing the bag in the truck when he heard their tiny cries. He immediately brought them to Animal Control to see if their lives could be saved. They were in luck as one of our important ALPRAS members worked there. We took them in to foster care right away. They were so young that their umbilical cords were still somewhat soft. We couldn't be certain, but we estimated them to be between 1-3 days old. We made their birthday the day they came to us.
Having 7 puppies to deal with can be a lot of work, but Anko was a solid eater and had no health issue in the beginning at all. It didn't take long for her to be adopted. Back then we were still located in North Carolina. After she was spayed and had all her shots at 4 months old, she went to her new home all the way in Florida where she joined a super friendly Pit Bull named Jessie and a former ALPRAS dog, Gremlin. She became the 3rd member of the pack and was also sister to a cat, (who was more like a dog) Raul. She had two young teens to play with as well and a mom who loved her spirit to pieces. |
