Weight (5) - (1=severely emaciated, 5 – 6 normal, 10 = morbidly obese)
Tedd is in good condition and weight for his size. He has no known medical issues and is healthy.
Overall Mental Health – Great (4) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Tedd is mentally sound and acts as a dog his age and breeds would. His score of 4 is based off of mild anxiety due to the circumstances of his coming into the rescue. Once he is in his forever home, this anxiety will probably fade over time as he acclimates to the schedule of the home.
***NOTE*** Tedd came into the rescue as his prior owner rapidly had failing health and passed away within a few months. This upheaval of uncertainty along with in and out of hospital visit led to an unstable schedule and is the center of his mild anxiety.
True to half his breed: Pomeranians are often considered a '1 person dog' type. This means that while they are happy to be social with other people, especially with their families, they have a 'favorite' person who they form a close bond with.
People – Good ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Tedd is great with people, as is par for the course with the other half of his breed. Beagles are generally very social dogs and are often chosen as a family pet due to their friendly outgoing nature. Beagles have a strong sense of pack cooperation as dogs bred to hunt in large groups. This means they are happy to substitute that mentality with people and other animals.
Children – Unknown, expected to be at minimum a 4 ( / ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
As Tedd hasn't had a lot of exposure to kids, we cannot give a firm rating on this. However, given his interactions with people, especially the elderly, chances are high he will be fine. As a Beagle mix, social is high on the list, but sometimes Pomeranians can be slightly standoffish towards rambunctious kids. As Tedd is a pretty energetic and spunky guy, we don't anticipate any issues.
***NOTE*** If an adopter has children, it will be a requirement that they be home for the home visit so we can ensure a good match. We always want an adoption to be right the first time every time and will always do what we think is best for the animal.
Dogs – Excellent ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Tedd is great with dogs. He is extremely playful is isn't afraid of dogs larger than him at all. His primary playmates are a very tall Saluki mix and an Irish Wolfhound. (It doesn't get much bigger than that!)
***NOTE*** Just like with people in the home, all resident dogs must be present to ensure there is a good match between potential pack-mates.
Cats – Unknown ( ? ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Tedd has not lived with cats and has not had a lot of exposure other than seeing feral cats on walks.
At this time, if a potential adopter has a cat, it would be best if it was a confidant or dog savvy cat. Given that he is part Beagle, it is natural for Beagles to chase. A confident cat will be able to stand its ground and create space. A dog savvy cat has lived with dogs, is comfortable around them, can create space, and knows how to navigate the line between correction an self defense.
***NOTE*** Just like with people in the home, all resident cats must be present to ensure the safety of both the dog and cats.
Pocket Pets – Unknown ( ? ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
If a family has pocket pet it would be best to play with them behind closed doors and in their enclosures when they are not as they have not been exposed to them just yet. Pocket Pet introductions should be done carefully with caution and safety in mind for both animals.
***NOTE*** Tedd is part Beagle, so it is not recommended that he be in direct contact with any kind of rodentia, rabbits, smaller reptiles, or amphibians. This doesn't mean he can't live with them, it just means they should not be in contact with each other.
Larger reptiles such as fully grown Bearded Dragons or Tortoises/Turtles the size of a plate would probably be fine to introduce.
Behavioral Issues – Minimal ( 2 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = None and 5 = Many
Tedd doesn't exhibit any major behavioral problems. His score of 2 is based off of an issue he came with, but seems to have stopped. Prior to his neuter he did mark on occasion. As anticipated, Tedd has stopped marking. It is best if his adopter maintains a schedule for potty breaks so that he continues to succeed.
Energy – Moderate ( 4 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Low and 5 = High
Tedd's energy level is moderate. He is generally always ready to play and the more active his home the more active he will probably be. He's a spunky, fun little dog who can probably do just about anything and go anywhere.
Barking – Medium ( 3 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Minimal and 5 = Very Often
Tedd is a Beagle/Pomeranian. Both breeds are vocal. Tedd doesn't 'over bark' but he will be barking while playing with other dogs and probably will with really active people too. He does alert bark, so if he sees someone outside the window or door, he will most likely let you know. He will sometimes (non aggressively) bark to say hi to other dogs on walks. His biggest area of barking is attached to his mild anxiety, so when his person leaves he will whine and bark for a few minutes. If all family members leave, chances are he will probably bark for a little while. This is something to consider for those who live in an apartment as the full duration and loudness isn't known. As Tedd becomes more secure in his environment, he will probably reduce the anxious barking if not eliminate it over time.
Swimming – Unknown ( ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
As we no longer have access to a pool at this time, we aren't sure how well he can swim. It is best that dogs use a life jacket just to be safe whenever in open water of any kind. We can help with tips and/or demonstration on how to teach dogs to swim for pool owners. It is imperative that a pool owner teach their dogs how to swim and be able to find the stairs to get out (especially if they do not have a pool fence) ensuring that their adopted dog does not drown.
Toys – Excellent ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Tedd likes to play with toys and is good with them. He is happy to share (and steal!) toys from other dogs.
He really likes toys he can play tug with such as ropes.
***NOTE*** We highly recommend getting a Bark Box Medium subscription.

'I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal, and I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and then spoke softly.
"I have done something," he replied,
"I created you."
