Weight (5) - (1=severely emaciated, 5 – 6 normal, 10 = morbidly obese)
Pegasi is in excellent health. She has no major health problems at this time. Pegasi may have a deviated septum but does not have a split nose or cleft palette. All this means is that she makes some noise when she sleeps and often snorts a bit when she's awake. Its actually quite adorable and has earned her the nickname of 'Lil' Snort', which she knows and happily responds to. This doesn't really affect her day to day. However, if she ever gets a respiratory infection, she should get antibiotics immediately. Staying up to date on vaccinations will help prevent this from happening.
Overall Mental Health – Excellent (5) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Pegasi has excellent mental health for her age. She isn't the smartest dog on the planet but she is mentally perfectly healthy. All this means is that one needs to be a little bit more patient when teaching her things. She will pick it up, just might take a little but longer to nail it down. She is solid on the commands she knows well.
People – Excellent ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Pegasi has been socialized with adults and usually doesn't show fear or reserved behavior. She very much takes clues from her packmates. Being half Golden Retriever is a bonus as she comes around fast even if she is initially shy. Her Rottweiler side will make her incredibly loyal of her people.
Children – Fair ( 3 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Pegasi is a sweet girl but she is a powerhouse. She is unaware of her strength. She doesn't recognize size or disability well. If you're her friend, you're basically another dog to her. Due to this, small children are not a good fit. We recommend ages 12 and up, however, kids as young as 8-11 who have experience with large dogs may be ok. We always verify during a home visit or meet and greet whether or not a dog is a good fit. We want kids to be safe and, very importantly to us, that the dog isn't put in a position where they will suffer the consequences of our lack of responsibility. Pegasi is also mouthy, gentle, but still mouthy. She can be gentle enough to clean under your fingernails with her teeth without hurting anyone at all but could accidently hurt small kids' little fingers. Due to this we recommend a home with older or experienced kids.
Dogs – Excellent ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Pegasi has lived with dogs since her birth of many ages and sizes. From an old small/medium sized dog of 16 years, a middle aged Deer Chihuahua, an older Dutch Shepherd, a leggy Saluki mix, a giant Irish Wolfhound, her parents, siblings, and several foster dogs. She has had good exposure to various breeds, sizes, and ages. Due to this she has learned to respect her elders, give space when another dog requires it, listen to warnings from other dogs, play with those willing to play, and has learned other canine etiquette from them and each other. She had an excellent start to her life with other dogs and has only taken issue with one dog in her entire life, and that was one of her sisters that consistently bullied her.
Pegasi holds a low pack position and is usually the Omega. She doesn't try to push it with higher pack members. In fact, she really has never cared about pack position at all, which is why she's content at the bottom or anywhere that she lands. She really enjoys being around other dogs. Pegasi has never lived without other dogs and would be best suited to a home that has another dog or dogs if pawsible. If not, she would absolutely need frequent or daily playdates. Dog parks could be an outlet in the future, but she would need time to ease into that as she doesn't feel confident and gets easily overwhelmed initially. Off times, or low traffic times are a good start. We can help any potential adopter with tips and tricks in this area.
Cats – Good ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Pegasi has lived with cats and has learned cat etiquette from them. She's had exposure to a grumpy older cat, an elder cat (who has given all dogs a lot of space), a disabled cat, a dog savvy cat, an obnoxious orange cat, and a playful large cat. She knows not to chase cats and listens to growl warnings. As a puppy when she didn't, she got a paw bop and did not have aggressive reactions and learned from her mistake. Pegasi can go to any home with cats, but extremely fearful cats may not be a good fit as her presence may cause too much stress. We want all animals in a home to be safe and happy.
Pegasi, like most of her litter, melds well with cats. She doesn't have a high prey drive and listens when cats say no. She generally doesn't seem the type to care much about cats either way. If they choose to interact with her positively, she will probably do the same or ignore them. She will probably avoid aggressive or extremely dominant cats as they won't be worth her time. Pegasi does enjoy playing with cats who want to engage.
Pocket Pets – Unknown ( ? ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
If a family has a pocket pet it would be best to play with them behind closed doors and in their enclosures when they are not. Pocket Pet introductions should be done carefully with caution and safety in mind for both animals.
Behavioral Issues – Minor ( 2 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = None and 5 = Many
Pegasi has been taught good behaviors. All pets can get into trouble/mischief and it is extremely important that the new pet parent do their part to continue their education with positive reinforcement to promote good behavior through appropriate discipline and training. She has a few behaviors that need to be kept in check so they never get worse. She knows commands to not do these things. Issues are as follows:
Issue: Mild jumping upon coming home.
Command: Off and Four on the Floor Action: Turn your back arms crossed.
Issue: Mouthing.
Command: Keep your teeth in your pocket. Action: Cross arms, look away, be boring.
Issue (Very rare): Counter surfing (very bad at it)
Command: Leave it and Off if paws are on the counter/table
Issue (Rarely): Stealing paper or tissues off the coffee table or picking up off the floor
Command: Drop it/Leave it.
Issue (Occasionally): Being grumpy about being woken up by another dog or over a toy.
Command: Enough
Note: It is literally just a nasty grumpy noise and she will go sulk in a corner like a spoiled child.
Energy – Moderate ( 4 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Low and 5 = High
Pegasi has a healthy amount for her age and breeds. She has a Moderate energy level. She will need some exercise. General play everyday may be enough to wear her out or she may require a little more strenuous exercise in the form of longer walks/runs or running around in a dog park depending on if there are other dogs in the home. In her current environment, she has many dogs to play with every day. This is enough to take out most of her energy. It is very important to be mindful of the Florida heat during outside activities because of her coloration.
Barking – Minimal ( 1 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Minimal and 5 = Very Often
Pegasi does not overbark. She alert barks on occasion, such as when someone knocks on the door and play barks when interacting with her siblings and friends. She is generally quiet otherwise. (snorts not counting!) She has a Rottie voice when she plays so it sounds pretty loud but a more Retriever bark when she does bark.
Swimming – Unknown ( ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
As we no longer have access to a pool at this time, we aren't sure how well she can swim. It is best that dogs use a life jacket just to be safe. We can help with tips and/or demonstrations on how to teach pets to swim for pool owners. It is imperative that a pool owner teach their dogs how to swim and be able to find the stairs to get out (especially if they do not have a pool fence) ensuring that their adopted dog does not drown.
* Chances are most of them will be decent swimmers but some of the heavier/larger pups in the litter may require more caution.
As Pegasi is a densely muscled dog, she should have a life jacket regardless of how well she swims if she is in any kind of open water (river/lake/ocean). She should be monitored in pools until it is known how well she can swim and knows where the steps are to get out. Pegasi may take longer to learn simply because if she panics her brain may not register training initially. We know how to help and combat issues surrounding this if she needs a bit of extra help.
Toys – Excellent ( 5 ) *Based on a 1-5 scale with 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent
Pegasi has displayed excellent behavior with toys. At this time she is not very destructive of toys. She chews on bones, chews on ropes, plays tug of war with other dogs with every kind of toy, shares (and steals!) toys with others, She doesn't tear apart plushies/woobies,or otherwise intentionally harm her intact playthings. When a toy gets worn out is usually when it finally gets defluffed. She LOVES toys and will be happy to be showered with them. The only toys at this time to avoid are thinner rubber toys if you have any. Her jaws are powerful enough to rip them up on accident or on purpose. Most medium chewer toys on up will be pawfect for her.
***NOTE*** We highly recommend getting a Bark Box Medium, Large, or Super Chewer subscription.

Other Notes:
Pegasi is a playful pup and really enjoys interaction. She has a blast with other dogs and is good with cats. She loves to cuddle and will happily be a lap dog with her almost 80lb self. She absolutely will love to cuddle with someone on a recliner and lay her head on your chest. Pegasi is exuberant and very caring about her people and pack members. She has many cute behaviors. One of our favorites is how proud she is of her collar and tags. She always makes sure her tags are very clean and is very excited when her collar goes back on if it's been off for any reason. Leash walking has been a breeze for her. Walking her once, her collar slipped off. We did not notice until someone behind us pointed it out as Pegasi had been walking right next to us still in the Heel position!
We had been walking an empty collar for some time on the trail without realizing it. We haven't been able to take her out much right now thanks to the heat (our problem not hers!). This girl really likes music. She enjoys upbeat stuff and her favorite song is LALALALA from Stray Kids. Since she and her siblings were born, we've always used Aphex Twin radio on Pandora to keep them calm. It still works 2 years later. If we ask Alexa to play the station, these buppies will still immediately start calming down and know its time to relax (or nap!). This good trick will really be useful if she ever gets sick or injured and needs to be kept calm.
We love Pegasi and it has been a joy to watch her grow from a tiny baby to this cute and sweet girl she is now. It will be hard to see this sweet pup go, but she deserves a pawsome home where she can thrive and be the best dog she can be. We know everything about this dog inside and out. All her needs, mannerisms, quirks, issues, cuteness, and anything you can think of. She is being rehomed due to conflicts with her sister. This is the only dog she has issues with and it is her sister's fault. Being constantly bullied for the last year has taken its toll. She deserves much better than having to deal with this. These things happen sometimes no matter how well they are raised or knowledgeable a person is. Just like people, sometimes we just don't get along with someone. Heartbreaking or not, we always do what is best for any animal in our care. Even if its our own. At ALPRAS, we believe in full transparency. We will not hold back information we have. It is rare to know an animal as well as we know this one since she has been in our care since birth to now 2 years old (as of 5/11 this year). She's a sweet girl and very innocent in many ways.
Keep in mind that this girl is half Golden Retriever. This means that she might enjoy water. She doesn't put her paws in the water bowl like some Goldens and Labradors, so no worries there! Field Goldens can be a little more high strung and alert. Pegasi can be alert but isn't high strung. She has the sweet loving Golden traits and always wants to please. As for the Rottweiler half, her father is an American Rottweiler. This means that unlike their German counterparts, American Rotties are often more needy and less aloof. While this makes them more social and great family dogs, it also can have them be more anxious and saddened when they are alone. If Pegasi lives with another dog, she won't be lonely. She isn't used to being without any pack mates so may be very needy without. This just means that without another dog you'll have to shower her will all the love she can handle! She can be a bit stubborn on occasion, a hallmark of Rottweilers everywhere. Despite that, her willingness to please overrides it pretty quickly. Many strong behaviors of both breeds are muted (such as guarding or ball obsession) as it seems to be common for these particular mixed breeds to inherit the best of both breeds. It is always important to do your research on the breed of dog you are interested in whenever it is known to make sure that your new family member is right for you! The great news is that both of their parents are excellent in representation of their breed and have wonderful personalities. They have also both been loving and interactive parents helping us guide these babies into the fantastic pups they are so far. The rest will be up to you! :)

'I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal, and I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and then spoke softly.
"I have done something," he replied,
"I created you."
