Blizzard Calypso

No one is ever really prepared to lose a loved one and that often goes even more so for those who have four paws.
We have lost an iconic part of our lives here at ALPRAS.
Blizzard Calypso passed away in February 2025. She was humanely euthanized and with pre care assistance and medication, she was able to pass peacefully and without pain in the arms of her guardian.
Who She Was |
Blizzard Calypso was a wonderful cat all the way.
She was what we at ALPRAS call a ‘Hero Momma’. She raised many kittens that were never her own. B;izzard did an extremely rare act and even milked for sick and needy kittens though having never had a litter herself and having been spayed before her first heat. She proved to be a valuable friend to many a suffering foster or sanctuary cat and helped guide them through rehabilitation. She selflessly gave of herself and her time to those animals in need, going so far to do the same for dogs and puppies. Blizzard was insanely patient with people and animals in general. She herself was a on the go inquisitive type cat. You could find her asleep somewhere or on top of a door. (Yes, we literally mean the top of a door!) She was intelligent and though not a troublemaker could find herself in the occasional predicament. She loved watching nature, chasing bugs, frogs, and lizards (and making some of them gifts for you), watching/chasing birds and squirrels (from the safety of a catio), and sunbathing. Blizzard could walk on a leash/harness set which drew many bemused stares. She didn't have much formal training, but she would go out and walk a ways, stop and chew on some grass, try to capture a bug etc. It was unexpected to have her come back to us, but thanks to a loving and wonderful Good Samaritan she was able to come home to ALPRAS. She has always had a permanent place in our hearts & had one as well here, as a Resident Sanctuary Cat, until she passed. |
